The summer a young Harvard student earned his place in history.
In August 1939, twenty-two-year-old John Fitzgerald Kennedy arrived in Riga by train from Warsaw and made his way to the U.S. embassy at 22 Ausekļa Street. The attic floor had been added shortly before his arrival — a comfortable home for the future U.S. president.
The original parquet floors and Art Nouveau ceiling ornaments are preserved — carefully integrated into a hotel that still carries his number.
