The embassy and Art Nouveau architecture district has long been well known for its unique architecture — everyone can immerse in the atmosphere of luxury of the last century. The adjacent oldest park in Riga — Viesturdārzs — uniquely complements the urban landscape of the city and will allow hotel guests to look at it through the wide panoramic windows.
The project was created by a team of designers from the creative studio CBP, but the management was transferred to SIA “A22 Hotel”. Today, the flight of imagination and mastery of a group of designers has been turned into a unique work of art. This is a place for those who looking for something unique instead of predictable hotel chains.
The created design concept is about modern chic and seductive atmosphere. The history of the building and the vision of the design team are vividly embodied in every detail, reflecting the desire and ability to surprise guests. Selected interior tones and rich profiles create a feeling of exquisite luxury.

MICHELIN Key — a very special stay in Riga.
A22 Hotel has been awarded One MICHELIN Key, recognising an exceptional stay shaped by distinctive design, genuine character and attentive service.
The MICHELIN Key celebrates hotels that offer more than beautiful rooms. Properties are assessed on their architecture and design, quality and consistency of service, connection to their destination, the experience offered in relation to its price, and the individuality that gives each hotel its own authentic character. One Key signifies “a very special stay” — a hotel with a strong personality and an experience that stands apart.
In its feature on Riga’s One-Key hotels, The MICHELIN Guide presents A22 as a modern and chic stay-and-dine destination for sophisticated travellers. The recognition brings together everything that defines A22: its historic setting in Riga’s embassy quarter, intimate collection of 20 rooms and suites, carefully considered interiors, personal service and destination dining at JOHN Chef’s Hall.
For us, the Key is more than an award. It is an affirmation of the care placed into every detail — from the atmosphere of each room to the way every guest is welcomed.
Design
Each of the hotel's rooms has its own mood, style and layout.
The design combines both design icons and lesser-known brands, such as the exclusive “Moooi” and “Bert Frank” luminaires, and more democratic solutions. In order to maintain cost-effective use, many interior elements are created by designers themselves on paper and individually implemented by carpenters and other craftsmen.
The atmosphere of the rooms is complemented by a modern sound system, which allows you to enliven your stay in pleasant vibrations. Guests will be offered to enjoy “Le Labo” brand cosmetics, which is a New York-based brand and is iconic not only in its non-traditional expression, but also in luxury.
As a key fact, it should be mentioned that in 1939, the US Embassy was located in Riga — 22 Ausekļa Street. Interested in international relations, the future President, John F. Kennedy, went on a trip to Europe and the countries of the Soviet Union. In order to make his stay in Latvia as comfortable as possible, the attic floor of the building was rebuilt into comfortable apartments. In 1994, 55 years later, a memorial plaque was affixed to the facade of the building, confirming the fact that the future US President would once live in this building. Today, the same attic floor offers 111 square meters of presidential suites for guests’ convenience.

A22 Hotel featured in The Times
Latvia’s pretty capital is best explored on foot. You can roam around the medieval town square (which was largely reconstructed after the war) and the food market, which is housed in a former zeppelin hangar, and enjoy the frothy stucco and pastel colours of the art nouveau quarter. Nearby, nudging the expansive Viestura Park, is the A22 Hotel, whose rather perfunctory name conceals an interesting backstory: this used to be the US embassy and in the 1930s it hosted a young John F Kennedy, then a Harvard student travelling around communist Europe. He lends his name to the Michelin-starred restaurant, where the 16-course tasting menu features local ingredients such as catfish, rhubarb and even pine cones (£180pp). The timber-clad annexe JFK stayed in is now the Presidential Suite. Opened in 2022 the hotel kept the original parquet flooring, adding a mid-century palette of salmon pinks, mustards and dark greens, globular chandeliers, wood panelling and fluted glass, while one wall in the First Lady Suite is clad in red velvet. While you’re here, make the journey out west to the seaside resort of Jurmala, a short train ride away, for shallow waters and amber-strewn sands.
